YIELD TO MATURITY
The annual rate of return on a bond if it is held until maturity. By industry convention, YTM assumes semiannual compounding of the coupon payments, reinvested at the yield to maturity rate. YTM takes into account discount received or premium paid, as well as the interest rate on the bond. Yield To Maturity is the most accurate measure of a bond’s lifetime performance.
